I was a little disturbed at the package that showed up at my door yesterday. It had my name on it and made me wonder who would send me a black veil and why? This had to be the wrong address!!! Since my office is attached to my home its not unusual for me to receive promotional items from time to time, but a black veil? It carried a voice of evil, despair, and death with it. Before I even had time to process it, my husband carried it out of the office and straight to the dumpster.
I decided that I was not going to let this bother me all day and asked God to be with the person that sent it and to shine HIS light in their life. I wasn’t sure how to bounce back from such a dark delivery, so I turned to God with my big giant question mark.
God, in His lovingkindness , reassured me that there is no mystery about who HE is to me and that HIS light is brighter that the blackest veil. He didn’t stop there… He had my dear friend Angie on standby to reassure me with words that we so often need to be reminded of…. she said:
“Much of the symbolism that I see deals with Hawthorne’s The Minister’s Black Veil which says the veil represents secret sin.
The enemy (and whoever his minion is in your scenario) is forgetting that you have no secret sin.
Your life is between you and Jesus and there is NOTHING which He does not know about you…and…
because you are His, all that sin has been wiped away at the cross. ” Angie A.
Thank you Jesus for my sister in Christ who called out the enemy and sent the black veil to the same pit of hell that it came from but this time covered in the blood of Christ. The black veil was sent to the wrong address of my heart.
I am a bride of Jesus and my veil is white!
Maybe the mystery of the black veil was intended for evil, maybe it was just a promotional delivery, maybe it was just a joke…. but what I got was the beautiful reminder of the source of my JOY, my HOPE and my SALVATION.
Maybe, it’s a reminder that we all needed about our life that Jesus has invited us to live with HIM. An invitation to the light of eternity that we can RSVP for now, or turn away and cover ourselves with a black veil, never opening up for Jesus to take the blackest veil away forever.
I don’t want you to leave this blog focused on the question “who sent this black veil to Kelly? ”
I DO want you to leave my blog knowing who the giver of life is.
Knowing who gives us peace and hope in our trials. I want you to know who my very best friend is. His name is JESUS! Because HE died for my sins, HE has made me white as snow! Won’t you let Him do the same for you?
” Those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life.” John 5: 24
” For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:40
” I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12
” I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this?” John 11: 25-26
The radiant bride of Christ,
