MISPLACED ROOTS

Last week I had a molar extracted that had three roots attached to my jawbone!Needless to say , these misplaced roots had a ripple effect on my entire body, my family, and the Bible Study I was teaching.

Isn’t it true of our own lives? If we misplace our roots, it affects EVERYTHING!

The warning signs were there. It started with a dull pain that I should have given my attention to but instead I covered the pain. I ignored it and hoped it would go away. For a short time, it was gone. I thought everything was just fine until the day I bit into a sugary dessert that shot instant pain through my mouth.

I waited again, convinced that just ignoring it would help it go away. The truth is I didn’t want to face the fact that I was going to have to go to the dentist. I was terrified!

Finally, the timing of the pain left me no choice but to go get it taken care of. I had a busy schedule in ministry that required me to handle it very very soon.

Again, like our own lives, we can hide, ignore, numb the pain for a long time when we are not properly rooted. We can turn to things that will temporarily ease our pain and take our minds off of the root of the problem! I mean, I can’t even imagine the side effects of all of the Orajel I consumed to numb my infected mouth!

God spoke a lesson to me about this as I was teaching my women’s Bible Study class. I shared the parallel with them and it was clear that misplaced roots make us weak. They give us unnecessary pain. The cause bitterness, envy, manipulation and comparisons. Misplaced roots lead us down a road that is lonely, depressed, and filled with fear.

I have GREAT news for you!

Our Father in heaven does not want this life for us! He has given us his one and only Son so that we can be rooted in a life that is filled with love, joy, peace and strength.

Maybe you feel the warning signs that your life isn’t rooted in the right place.

Maybe you have been numbing pain or dealing with it for way too long.

Ephesians 3:17 says ” Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”

It’s time to flourish! Be rooted in Jesus!!!

He will carry our pain, give us peace, and be our joy.

Radiantly Rooted in Joy,

Kelly
